Stop Scrolling and Start Trusting: Your Inner Wisdom Knows the Way
Feb 11, 2025If you’ve ever spent three hours researching the right way to start a new habit, only to end up overwhelmed and still stuck on the couch, congratulations—you are human.
We live in a world overflowing with expert advice, data, and the latest neuroscience on why you haven’t mastered your morning routine yet. But here’s the truth: you don’t need another self-help book, a PhD in decision-making, or a 10-step plan to get your life together. You just need to trust yourself and take action. Yes, even without reading that article on “7 Scientific Reasons Why You Procrastinate.”
I have really taken this (back) to heart recently. I made huge sustainable changes in my live – weight loss, sobriety, relationships, spirituality, etc. all by going inward and trusting that I knew what was best for me – mind, body and purpose. However, I got off track and become obsessed with gathering all the information I could – fasting vs. non fasting, workout regimes, morning routines, science-based data for this and that. I hit a wall in January – I had 2 close friends say “maybe read a good fiction book”!
So, I have spent more time with myself and took a “pause” - became curious, meditated, breath-work, asking myself “what do I want to do today? What is my 1 priority today?" And I feel like I am back on the internal journey and my outer world seems a whole lot brighter!
Think about it—our ancestors didn’t have YouTube tutorials on resilience. They just figured it out. They listened to their instincts, took action, and adapted along the way. You, too, have that built-in wisdom. You already know what you need. Want to get in shape? Move your body. Want more peace? Shut off your phone for an hour and breathe. Want to change your life? Take the next imperfect step and trust that you’ll figure it out as you go. Science is great, but so is your gut.
Try these Fun Actions to Start Trusting Yourself Today:
- Make a Decision in 5 Seconds or Less – No overthinking, just commit. Whether it’s choosing a meal, saying yes (or no) to plans, or starting a new habit—trust your first instinct.
- Do Something Before You Feel “Ready” – Newsflash: You’ll never feel 100% ready. Start anyway. Your future self will thank you.
- Ditch the Expert for a Day – No Googling, no advice-seeking. Just you, your instincts, and taking action like the wise, capable human you already are.
So, put down the self-help rabbit hole, tune in to yourself, and go do the thing. Your inner wisdom has been waiting for you to listen.
I believe in you!
